Haiti in 2006 today is different from Haiti in 1976. Difference does not automatically imply improvement.

As long as we continue to stay away from the letter and the spirit of the law of the land, Haiti will remain a modern jungle, a place where the big eats the small, and where the strong beats or eats the weak. It's the law that will move us from the jungle into a more civil(ized) way of living together. And it's the same for every society. It's not a divine curse, it's not in our genes, and it's not related to the amount of melanin we have in our skin.
