Long Live Fidel!
My best wishes to Fidel Castro for a speedy recovery. May he outlive (politically, at least) his fiercest enemies and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution (January 1, 2009) in style!
He would of course invite the President of the United States [the lame duck George Bush, set to depart from the White House for good (riddance) 19 days later]. Predictably, Puny Bush will "snub" Gigante Castro, declining the invitation, but only inviting more ridicule on U.S. bottom-fishing and uninspiring policies in so doing.
The President of Haiti will be there of course, in a show of regional and international solidarity.
So will a few courageous and progressive-minded members of the U.S. Congress.
So will the visionary leaders of the Americas.
So will in spirit all who benefited from the Cuban Revolution, throughout the world.
May the old spirit of greed, revenge, strangulation and death VANISH, giving way to a renewed vision of hope, national reconciliation, economic cooperation and full humanitarian exchange between Cuban communities in Cuba and in the United States.
Long Live Fidel and May We All Live to See That Day!
