Pictures of Haitian Child Soldiers? Don't believe...

Post by admin » Tue Jan 17, 2006 9:31 am

Some pictures are being widely circulated, pertaining to show Haitian child soldiers, led supposedly by gang leaders who have announced that they will vote for René Préval.

Don't circulate those pictures. You would just be spreading a lie. That is the sinister purpose of the person who started this e-mail chain.

The photographs, and a lot more are from the Civil War in Liberia and were taken in 2003 by Chris Hondros.

Thank you so much for letting us know Guy, I was disturbed and a little skeptical about these photo's and what they claim they were. The sub-titles to these pictures in the email clearly show what idea the person was trying to put out there. San li pa rann kont se figi peyi an l'ap bese an menm tan.

Guy I will be sure to let everyone I can, know that these pictures are not what they claim to be.

I have one question: where do those pictures come from? I remember seeing them and didn't bother pursuing the issue at first. I wanted to wait for a follow-up to verify their authenticity. Now, I cannot recall which website or web news agency from Haiti I got them from. Can someone help, please. I would really, really appreciate it!!! I NEED to know.

Serge, I am not sure I was clear in my question. My question was: which Haitian news organization began circulating those pictures, as though they were taken in Haiti?

Dear all,

This morning, I received an email from a friend with child soldiers. The email claimed that they are from Haiti and the pitures depict the current situation in Haiti. Right away, I went back to this posting on Ann Pale and decided to view all the pictures from Liberia in the website of Chris Hondos. Then, I decided to gather all the emails that I could get from the chain, and I sent an email to all of them telling them to stop spreading the lie. I will update all of you on how many harrassments that I receive for standing up.

Anacaona!
