Censure Bush, Cheney, and other government lawbreakers!

Post by Guysanto » Wed Jul 25, 2007 6:31 am

We need to demonstrate that Bush's imperial presidency was an aberration and will not stand as the framework for power in the years to come. We need to restore accountability in government. We need to let Dick Cheney know that he is not above the law as he seems to believe that he is. We need to remind George Bush in the strongest possible terms that if it was not okay for a president of the United States to lie about a sexual affair, it cannot be okay to lie to Congress and the country about the reasons for engaging in a humanitarian and economically disastrous war in Iraq against people who did not attack us. The U.S. has been the aggressor and may never again be relied upon as a fair arbitrer in Middle-Eastern politics, or anywhere else on the planet for that matter. Since Congress does not seem to have the stomach for impeaching Bush, Cheney, Gonzales and others in the government for their clear abuses of power, it should at the very least demonstrate to the people who elected it that it can stand up against the dictatorial and unlawful behaviors of the Executive branch. Failing that, Congress itself should be recalled for not having the guts to perform its job, as defined in the U.S. Constitution and as mandated by the people who pay them handsomely for the privilege of representing their interests in Washington D.C. Have we learned the lessons of November 2006 yet? Voter anger can cut both ways. Down with do-nothing representation. Down with the imperial presidency.
