Edward Kennedy

I have always thought that you were one of the very best this country's had to offer since I arrived here in 1971. Aside the Kennedy mystique, aside the rambunctiousness of your youth, aside your sensationalized failings, I knew generally that you were THE ONE who could be counted on the most to defend the interests of the least powerful sectors of this society. You were born of privilege but became A MAN OF CONSCIENCE AND A PASSIONATE VOICE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE.

Rest in Peace. Your name will forever be engraved in my heart, and in the hearts of most Haitian immigrants.
