Bisantnè lanmò Desalin

Post by admin » Mon Sep 18, 2006 4:27 pm

The bicentennial of Jean-Jacques Dessalines's death is practically at our doorstep. What would be the best way to celebrate the memory of the Father of our country, which we have called Haiti since 1804?

If you have written on these pages before... if you have never done so... now is the time to say something. This is not for polemics. This is simply to give everyone the opportunity to say simply (no speeches, please!) what is one his/her mind and heart on this solemn, if somber, occasion.

À vous, la parole...

Now's your turn...

Sepandan, mwen konnen gen bagay pozitif k'ap fèt tou. Mwen envite nou pataje yo avèk nou. Men yon ti mesaj mwen resevwa maten an menm nan men Bayyinah Bello. M'ap paje'l avèk nou ak anpil kontantman:

Nou swete pou enstitisyon w lan grandi ak konesans epi sajes. Pote w byen.

Bayyinah Bello

RSL se yon espas kote Ayisyen kwaze chak dènye samdi chak mwa pou n pataje konesans esperyans istorik Pèp nou an. Ojektif nou se rive konn tèt nou pi byen, pou n ka rive viv an bonjan Ayisyen toutbon vre.

Guy,

Mwen renmen sijesyon Bouli ya. Men Mwen ta kontan si rankont lan te fè andedan paske li ka komanse fè frèt.

Si you rankont konsa ta rive fèt, eske se nan dat 17 oktòb la li tap fet oubyen, eske li tap fèt you lòt jou (15 oktòb) pou pèmèt moun ki lekòl yo patisipe?

Ana!

On the Bicentennial of the Assassination of Dessalines

Post by Ezili Danto » Wed Sep 20, 2006 4:18 pm

Onè e respè la Sosyete:

October 17, 2006 marks the bicentennial of the assassination of Haiti's revolutionary hero and founding father - Join HLLN, throughout the month of October 2006, in celebrating the life, triumphs, achievements and three greatest ideals and philosophical contributions of Jean Jacques Dessalines for a more humane and unted world.

Share your thoughts on this first presentation:
http://www.margueritelaurent.com/pressc ... ssalines06

Are these Dessalines' greatest ideals and philosophical contributions towards a more humane and united world? If not, what would you consider are more important in terms of his contributions? And if you agree, then how do Dessalines' descendants live Dessalines' great vision of a Black ruled independent nation in today's world?

Fè kadejak sou fanm yo ak fanmi yo etsetera era. Kidonk vye frè pa kite moun panse pou ou.

Sonje byen, lè ou oprese oun kretyen pou lontan, gen youn presyon kap fòme anndan. Kidonk lè gen oun ouvèti, rezilta-a toujou orib.

Desalin toujou rete oun gwo Lidè pou nou pèp Ayisyen!

Li te fè konesans ak youn nan pi gwo krim nan limanite (esklavaj). Sepandan, li te gen youn rèv. Se te pou libere Ayiti de Sanginè, Chimè, Zenglendo, Kadejakè, Malpouwont, Tchoul, Makout, ak tout sendenden ki renmen sa ansyen mèt yo ap ba yo pou yo adore yo!!! Adje!

Yo gen rezon tiye Pilye sa-a!! Anpil foli-blan te rayi-l ap toujou rayi-l. Ki fè-m sonje oun lè nan "Twenty Twenty" yo t'ap fè youn ti antrevi ak Mike Tyson ki te etone tout moun lè li te montre yo nan lakou lakay li bisk oun gwo lidè ke li adore. Lè yo mande-l ki nèg sa, li reponn ak fyète "Se pi gwo moun pou mwen. Non li se Anperè Jan Jak Desalin!!!"

No wonder yo te rayi Tyson konsa!!!!

Anfèt frè ak sè-m yo. Se pa youn moso moun. Se te youn idòl pou tout revolisyonè! Ti mòdè fadè tankou Gaba ou Jeren ap tire-l. Men yo pa-t ka detwi èv li, ekzanp ke li bay lemonn antye, FRRRREEEDOM!

Mwen panse ke pou nou ta rankontre nan 17 oktòb men se pa pou nou rejwi.

Men se youn jou pou nou sonje LIDÈ sa-a.

L'Union fait la Force

Leonel

P.S. Eske nou konnen kote Desalin te sòti?

The 200th anniversary of the assassination of Dessalines should be a time of reflexion for all Haitians. We need to be more tolerant of each other. We need to put our "L'union fait la force" into practice. Our division, our constant infighting put Haiti in its current situation. We were united during the war of independence and that's the only reason it was won. After that we start fighting each other. Dessalines was the first of many casualties our division. It has been reported that Christophe and Petion were involved in the plot to kill Dessalines. Then Christophe and Petion started fighting each other. Similar situations went on for 200 years. Then in 2004, similarly to 1806, Aristide was overthrown. Now, foreign troops occupy the soil of Haiti. We are turning around but we are not moving forward.

Anacaona, I was waiting and hoping for a greater response from forum members. But a number of commemorative events are being planned in a number of places. The weekend of October 14-15 is, of course, perfectly acceptable. A number of things are happening in New Jersey (details, later). What is happening in New York/NY? What is happening in Boston/MA? What is happening in Philadelphia/PA, in Raymond/NH, in Charlotte/NC, in Little Haiti/FL, in Ottawa/Ontario, in Montreal/Quebec, in Camaguey/Cuba, and every little community of AYITI?

Anyway, please feel free to join me in New Jersey. I would love to meet you in person. As I said, I will post at least one significant event happening that weekend, where I live. Please join us. Drop me a line. I will be glad to finally meet you and whomever might want to join us in this time of reflection).

Hey, Bouli, will you be anywhere near "Santral Pak N.Y." or are you just teasing?

Everyone else, you can be wherever you want to be (of course!) But may a few of us reflect together on this somber commemoration of the death (some would prefer to say "brutal assassination") of the founder of our nation, AYITI? Time to set aside our unending personal disputes and, for a brief moment, look forward together in the same direction.

I know that you have a lot of things going on and the least I can do is to send my modest contribution to help out.
As we always said: Bay piti pa chich, anpil min chanj pa lou.
My contribution may not be enough to establish a Jean Jacques Dessalines Scholarship Fund, but enough to buy some kiddies stuff, and a lot of blue and red balloons.
Bouli wrote:
Our duty is to sell Dessalines' Acts and dreams to our kids, neighbors, communities, to the world.
I agree with you Bouli.

Happy Jean Jacques Dessalines' Day!!!
And God Bless you all.

Bouli ekri:
FIC yo kite istwa hero nou yo deye nan elemante e prime e yo derape avek “La Literature Haitienne” a nivo sekonde.

Byen ke se ansyen elev FIC ke nou ye de generasyon a generasyon, fok nou di laverite a kle kou dlo souss fok nou pa pe mande yo de ki prevyen.
Nou pa bezwen kolabore avek FIC anko. Nou gen asse bet e neg skolar ki fo e ki kap mete sou pye youn bon liv istwa d'Ayiti pou ti moun nou yo itilize e ki pou remonte nasyonalis e sivis yo e pou yo sa remin peyi yo.
